Queen Victoria and Sharp

1866

RCIN 2908315

Carte-de-visite depicting a full-length portrait of Queen Victoria standing, facing three-quarters-right. She wears dark coloured clothing including gloves and a headdress, which is tied underneath her chin using a wide ribbon. She rests her left hand on her collie Sharp who is sitting on a cushioned stool to the right. A staircase can be seen through the window behind. This carte-de-visite was sold to the general public and cemented the Queen's reputation as a dog lover.
