Taking inspiration from the exhibition Style & Society: Dressing the Georgians, this lecture will explore the important relationship between what the Georgians wore, and one of the most important social activities they would engage in when wearing their ensembles - dancing. Join historical dance expert Alena Shmakova and step into the world of dance in Georgian Edinburgh, from dance classes to regimented dress codes; and from Caledonian Hunt balls to royal assemblies.
