Join us for the latest in our series of hands on, creative courses in collaboration with The School of Historical Dress and learn all about the cut and construction of clothing made for courtiers of the Italian Renaissance.
The drawings on display in our current exhibition, Drawing the Italian Renaissance conjure up the world of Renaissance Italy where the drapery of the Classical world was celebrated through theatrical presentations of gods and goddesses in masques, where horses were dressed in the same magnificence as their riders and where feathers were spangled in gold and silver.
During this course, we will explore both daywear and theatrical costume of the 15th and early 16th centuries in Italy. Participants will make feather samples, study original textile pieces of the finest 15th century Italian weaving, work samples of pinked white leather and make half-scale toiles of the fascinating layers of legwear worn by men, all with appropriate tools and materials.
Your ticket also includes a private view of the exhibition, Drawing the Italian Renaissance at The King's Gallery, Buckingham Palace.
