Join us for this exciting opportunity to learn all about the Japanese method of Kintsugi. Roughly translated as ‘joining with gold’, this beautiful art form intends to highlight the fractures in broken ceramics, celebrating the history of the object and embracing its imperfections.

This taster course led by Iku Nishikawa of Kintsugi Oxford offers the opportunity to learn about Kintsugi (‘golden’ ‘repair’), the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics. Iku will show us how to prepare the ceramic, how to carefully glue each piece back together and, most importantly, how to acheive that unique, golden finish so closely associated with Kintsugi art.

All materials are provided, giving you the opportunity to participate in this ancient tradition. The evening includes a private view of the exhibition.

The income from your ticket contributes directly to The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity. The aims of The Royal Collection Trust are the care and conservation of the Royal Collection, and the promotion of access and enjoyment through exhibitions, publications, loans and educational activities.
