The King and other Members of the Royal Family support many different charities and organisations. Currently, over 3,000 organisations list a member of the Royal Family as their patron or president.
These range from well-known charities such as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) to new, smaller charities like the Reedham Children's Trust, to regiments in the Armed Forces. Having a Royal patron or president provides vital publicity for the work of these organisations, and allows their enormous achievements and contributions to society to be recognised.
This year we mark the 200th anniversary of one of those charities, the RSPCA, which is a charity that changes the lives of animals. The vast majority of RSPCA people are volunteers, supported by expert staff, all working together to help save lives.
Included as part of your visit to Windsor Castle this October half term, children can enjoy some creative crafting at the Castle's Learning Centre. Children can create an animal momento to take home or play animal bingo.
Activities take place throughout the local school holidays 10:00 - 15:00 to keep your little ones busy.
Remember to collect a family trail to learn more about 'Royal Patronages' or alternatively hunt for 'Royal Beasts' around the Castle.
