In 2016, Royal Collection Trust announced a major investment in a series of projects at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and Windsor Castle that would transform the experience of visiting these royal residences.

Collectively known as Future Programme, the projects delivered significant improvements to the way visitors are welcomed on arrival, created new Learning Centres and visitor facilities, opened up new spaces and renewed displays of works of art from the Royal Collection.

Work began in 2017 and was completed in 2020. Both Palaces remained open to visitors throughout the developments.

Find out more about the improvements made to Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse below.
