Filming

Royal Collection Trust’s Press Office deals with requests to film at the official royal residences, such as Buckingham Palace (including the Royal Mews), St James's Palace, Windsor Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse (including the Physic Garden) and The King’s Galleries in London and Edinburgh. Filming applications must relate to works of art in the Royal Collection or the public opening of the royal residences in order to be considered. 

Location and reality filming are not permitted at the official royal residences, and un-commissioned filming projects will not be considered. 

To submit a request, please read the Filming and Recording Guidelines and complete a Filming Application Form - both can be dowloaded below.

Application Forms must be submitted to the Press Office ([email protected]a minimum of six weeks before the proposed date of filming. Please note that all requests are subject to approval.

The current filming and recording facility fee is £300 + VAT per hour, plus a supervision fee of £25 + VAT per person per hour. A deposit may be payable in advance of filming.

In addition, transmission fees and/or costs for the use of stills will be applicable. A five year licence for one country and one language will cost £240 excluding VAT per item filmed/still provided. Other licences are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.  For details of the costs of stills and transmission fees, please contact the Royal Collection Trust Picture Library.

Images

Images are available to press, broadcast and digital media for the preview and review of exhibitions, events and the public opening of the royal residences. Please email [email protected] with details of your image request. All images are 300 dpi (7 x 5), and captions and credit details will be provided.
