Knight describes the buildings of the Lower Ward, including the Winchester and Salisbury Towers. William Wykeham (c.1324-1404), bishop of Winchester, supervised new building works at the Castle under Edward III (1327-1377). A century later Richard Beauchamp (d.1481), bishop of Salisbury, Dean of Windsor and Chancellor of the Order of the Garter, was much involved in the building of St George's Chapel.
