Philosophical Transactions, published by the Royal Society, was the world’s earliest science journal. From the first edition printed in 1665, its aim was to inform the society’s fellows and other interested readers of the latest scientific discoveries. This volume, published during the reign of Charles II, contains information on the discovery of a new ‘star’ by the Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius.
