1665RCIN 1090263
The first important work on microscopy, Robert Hooke's investigations into tiny objects was dedicated to Charles II, who had requested that such a study be made. Hooke's drawings of his observations are accompanied by written accounts so compelling that Samuel Pepys recorded that he stayed up reading his copy until 2 o'clock in the morning.
