Horrid Visions or Nappy Napp'd at Last.
23 Aug 1808RCIN 810701
A shock-haired Napoleon is faced by resistance in all directions. Behind him, a Spanish whirlwind knocks King José off his throne, while he is challenged by Russia (a bear), Austria (an eagle) and the Dutch (shown as marsh-dwelling frogs). The print reflects the spirit of optimism as Wellington and the British army began to gain ground in Spain and northern European countries rose up against Napoleon.
