In June 1815, allied forces won a decisive victory over the French at the Battle of Waterloo. Napoleon was captured and transported to the island of St Helena, where he was imprisoned. This print records the picture placed outside Ackermann’s shop, showing the French monarchy being restored as Napoleon is overpowered. Probably acquired during the reign of Queen Victoria Cat. 89
