ATTRIBUTED TO FERDINAND BOL (DORDRECHT 1616-AMSTERDAM 1680)
Rembrandt and his Wife Saskia
RCIN 406574
This painting was acquired by George IV as a Rembrandt portrait of Burgomaster Pancras; it is now thought to be a portrait of Rembrandt himself produced in his studio and signed with his name but executed by his pupil. Recent cleaning has revealed a sumptuously painted piece of theatre.
