SÈVRES PORCELAIN FACTORY
Vase hollandois
RCIN 36089
This shape of vase is named after similar vases produced in Delft earthenware. This particular example is also decorated with a Dutch tavern scene after Teniers, Le Bon Père. The scene is reversed from the Teniers original, suggesting that the Sèvres painters worked from an engraved copy of the painting; one such engraving survives in the archives at Sèvres.
Acquired by George IV in 1820; the scene identified as after Teniers in an inventory of Carlton House in 1826
