Collecting Dutch and Flemish drawings
In the early years of his reign, George III (r. 1760 –1820) was a prolific collector of drawings, and acquired a large proportion of the 732 Dutch and Flemish drawings now in the Royal Collection.

All of the drawings that follow here have been identified in the unusually detailed catalogue of the estate sale of the merchant and collector Abraham van Broyel, held in Amsterdam on 30 October 1759. They were acquired at that sale by the Amsterdam dealer Pieter Yver, and probably passed to George III soon after.
