AFTER DANIEL MAROT (1663-1752)

Eight wall hangings

1680 - 1720

RCIN 28228

These hangings may have originally hung in Queen Mary’s Water Gallery in the gardens at Hampton Court Palace. The Water Gallery was a Tudor waterside apartment which the queen occupied whilst the State Apartments were being renovated. The scrolling shapes echoed the parterres in the garden outside, which was also designed by Daniel Marot.
