In the traditional Russian form of a throne and in the Pan-Slavic style of the late nineteenth century. This salt represents an example of the British royal family purchasing Russian-made objects from the so-called ‘English Shop’, Nicholls & Plincke on Nevski Prospekt in St Petersburg.

Purchased from Nicholls & Plincke and given to Prince Albert Victor of Wales, eldest son of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, for his 12th birthday
