Instructions for my Son George
1749This treatise was written to guide the Prince of Wales’s eldest son (later George III) when he became king. The Prince, who is revealed in this document as a thoughtful and competent heir to the throne, never got the chance to act on his own advice, but assures his eleven-year-old son that ‘I shall have no regret never to have wore the Crown, if you do but fill it worthily’.
