Jonah Under His Gourd
1561RCIN 405465
Jonah is sent to warn the inhabitants of Nineveh of its imminent destruction. The people repent so God spares them and Jonah, shamed, flees to the outskirts of Nineveh. Here God provides a gourd (vine) to shade him, but then causes it to wither. Jonah misses its protection and learns the importance of nurturing things of worth such as cities like Nineveh.
