The goddess reclines with her hunting dogs, an arrow in her left hand, her quiver and bow resting beside her. The crescent moon in her hair identifies Diana as goddess of the moon as well as the hunt. This elegant French painting was originally oval-shaped and was probably part of a series including Venus, Adonis and Mars.
