The Prince Regent’s collection of French porcelain epitomised his taste for the rare, the exotic and the extravagant. His brightly coloured, boldly modelled pieces of Sèvres porcelain enhanced the elaborate decorative schemes of Carlton House, where he amassed an unrivalled range of both vases and tablewares. The Prince purchased his first piece of Sèvres at the age of 21 and continued to collect for the rest of his life. The selection of vases shown here were all acquired during the Regency.
