The allied traditions of hunting and marksmanship made Coburg an important centre for gun-making. Koenig & Sons were court rifle-makers to the Dukes of Saxe-Coburg for two generations. These pistols with their engraved silver Gothic revival inlays were shown at the Great Exhibition, where Prince Albert bought them.
