JAMES ROBERTS (C. 1800-67)

The Pavilion Breakfast Room at Buckingham Palace

dated May 1850

RCIN 919918

The Breakfast Room was furnished with materials from Brighton Pavilion, which the Queen had sold two years earlier. Among the imported fittings were the chimney piece, the chandelier and the wall paintings. The remaining decorations, including the dragon painted on the ceiling, were carefully designed to complement the oriental theme.
