    Charlotte Canning was Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Victoria, and a talented artist. The Queen often asked her to record views for the Souvenir Albums, among them this view of the towering Schloss Callenberg, one of the residences of Albert’s brother Duke Ernest II. The watercolour shows the appearance of the Castle before Duke Ernest’s renovations in the late 1850s.
