Field Marshal Blücher was commander of the Prussian army at Waterloo. His actions were crucial to allied victory and made him a European hero. Blücher was nicknamed 'Marshal Forwards' because of his eagerness in battle and Lawrence shows him in the midst of the action, with a pointing hand commanding the soldier behind him into the fray.
