This inkstand was taken at Waterloo by Captain Horace Seymour who was aide-de-camp to the cavalry commander Lord Uxbridge and said to have 'slain more men at Waterloo than any other single individual'. The inkstand is unlikely to have come from Napoleon's personal carriage which was captured by the Prussians but may have been taken from one of the supporting vehicles.
