A Prince's Treasure

Saloon
The Saloon was reopened in 2018 after many years of restoration. It has now been returned to the splendour of Robert Jones’s 1823 design as seen in the image above.
As part of A Prince’s Treasure the magnificent ‘Kylin’ clock has been returned to the chimneypiece. This was bought in France specifically for the Saloon. The clock is embellished with Asian porcelain. On either side are turquoise-glazed Chinese Buddhistic lions. These are often known as kylins, after a mythical Chinese animal. Above the clock is a Japanese group of a seated Buddha between two children. Around the figures is ornate gilt-bronze foliage, including lotuses and sunflowers.
