This magnificent fan, decorated with festive flora in the form of holly, mistletoe and Christmas roses, was given by Queen Victoria to her daughter-in-law, Alexandra, Princess of Wales (the future Queen Alexandra) in 1881. The recipient’s name ‘Alix’ can be seen in the centre of the fan with a golden crown above.
