Pantomime costume

1943

RCIN 70779

Princess Elizabeth wore this silk costume when she played the lead role in the 1943 production of Aladdin at Windsor Castle.

Other performers in the pantomimes included local children, evacuees, friends and service personnel based in the Windsor area. There was always an enthusiastic audience and all money raised from the admission charge went to the Wool Fund, to supply knitting wool for the making of comforters for the armed forces.

The income from your ticket contributes directly to The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity. The aims of The Royal Collection Trust are the care and conservation of the Royal Collection, and the promotion of access and enjoyment through exhibitions, publications, loans and educational activities.
