Club (mere pounamu)
RCIN 62811
This was possibly the mere pounamu sent to William IV by Chiefs Titore and Patuone in 1834. Upon gifting the king a mere, the Maori chiefs received two sets of plate armour. The hardness and durability of nephrite made it an ideal material for weaponry.
