This Turkish rifle cartridge and bullet had been fired and later reassembled. It was picked up on X Beach, Gallipoli, by Lt. C.T.H. White, of the Royal Navy, who served on HMS Irresistible and later on the HMS Arcadian. It was given to Col. Sir Malcolm Murray to bring back to England in May 1915 and offered to Princess Mary in return for her silver cartridge case pencil.
