Tour planning

The Admissions Process

The residences tend to be busiest immediately after opening and after Changing the Guard. Afternoons and weekdays are generally quieter.

Windsor Castle is particularly busy from opening and throughout the morning. For the best experience please book and have your tickets posted to you in advance, and arrive on your visit date after midday.

When you arrive, you will be required to pass through an airport-style security check. In order to speed up this process, please travel with as few bags and items as possible.

Guiding

Royal Collection Trust welcomes visitors accompanied by registered Blue Badge Guides. For further information relating to guiding please visit the Visiting in a group page for each residence listed below.

Changing the Guard

Changing the Guard takes place throughout the year at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. Please check the Changing the Guard schedule before planning a visit:

Changing the Guard - Buckingham Palace
Changing the Guard - Windsor Castle
