The State Banquet and Grand Service

For a State Banquet the table is set using items from the Grand Service as well as other items of precious silver, silver-gilt and gold vessels.

The Grand Service was originally made for George IV, when Prince of Wales and was first used at a banquet in 1811. During his reign, George IV added to the service and by his death it included more than 4,000 pieces.
