At his Restoration, Charles II appointed Elias Ashmole Windsor Herald and consulted him on matters of Garter tradition and ceremony. This etching by Wenceslaus Hollar in Ashmole's account of the Order depicts the procession of Charles II and the Garter Knights to St George's Chapel, Windsor.
