Muhammad Ali Khan employed the British artists Francis Swain Ward, Tilly Kettle, and George Willison to paint portraits of himself and his family. He sent these as gifts to allies including George III. This print was made after an oil painting of c.1763, presented by the Nawab to the East India Company’s Governor of Madras.
