The sitter wears fine beige gloves, possibly of doeskin, which crumple gently at the wrist. They stop short of the extraordinarily ornate and expensive three-tiered lace cuffs which match the lace ruff around her neck. Interestingly her hands and wrists, which are wrapped with strings of pearls, were fully completed before the gloves were added on top. This perhaps indicates that the artist or sitter had a later change of mind
