Foot-combat armour of Prince Charles
about 1615RCIN 67275
This armour was presented to Charles I when prince, by Charles Emanuel I, Duke of Savoy. Circular rivets – seen for example along the edges of the pauldrons (shoulder pieces) – probably held strips of fabric to which a lining fabric could then be sewn. Bands of silver and gold conterfeit Damascened and incised decoration completely cover the armour and small holes indicate that oval cartouches were once attached to the surface.
