The textual artist Stephen Raw has collaborated with Carol Ann Duffy for a number of years on many of her public commissions. He trained in London, and studied further in Manchester, where he is now based. He has combined work as a lettering artist with being visiting lecturer at Manchester MetropolitanUniversity and Glasgow School of Art.

His love of language is fundamental to all his work and his aim is ‘to make language visible’. This short film shows Stephen Raw at work in his studio on several of the pieces in the exhibition.
