This is a presentation copy of the lines Masefield wrote to be sung at the opening of the memorial to Queen Alexandra, mother of King George V, on 8 June 1932, at Marlborough House London. The poem was set to music by Sir Edward Elgar. This copy has been illustrated by Masefield himself, who decorated many of the poems he presented to the royal family with watercolour vignettes of ships.
