This set of, in total, six volumes of Wordsworth’s Poetical Works was amended and annotated in the poet’s own hand as preparation for a later edition. The poem shown is the first of the series of ‘Lucy’
poems, which Wordsworth wrote while parted from his friend Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
