Table ornaments and paperweights depicting traditional Russian subjects, such as the bear, were produced in large numbers in the nineteenth century. It was made by the English silversmith Robert Colquhon who supplied the firm of Nicholls & Plincke in St Petersburg, otherwise known as the ‘English Shop’.

Probably acquired by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra
