Luke Sullivan’s print shows the Guards marching out of London to counter the Jacobite rising of 1745. It was commissioned by Hogarth after an oil painting which he raffled in aid of the Foundling Hospital (who own the work today). The print is famously dedicated to Frederick II of Prussia, perhaps Hogarth’s riposte for the unfavourable reaction of George II to his work.
