About the Royal Archives
The holdings of the Royal Archives date principally from the reign of George III (r. 1760–1820) onwards, although there is some notable earlier material, such as the papers of the exiled Stuarts. Documents relating to the Sovereign and the Royal Household continue to be added to the Royal Archives today.
Since 1914 the Round Tower at Windsor Castle has been home to the Royal Archives. A selection of its treasures have been brought together in this exhibition to celebrate the centenary of the creation of the Royal Archives. The items on display date from the thirteenth to the twenty-first centuries and include personal correspondence, diary entries and account books for royal residences
