PAUL SANDBY (1731-1809)
Windsor Castle and part of the town from Sheet Street
c.1765RCIN 453597
Because of their meticulous depiction of architectural detail and their keen observation of human activity in and around the grounds of the Castle, Paul Sandby’s watercolours form a remarkable record of the period. This view is from Sheet Street in the town, to the south of the Castle. The watercolour was given to Queen Elizabeth by her friend Sir Richard Molyneux.
