Royal Weddings
The history of Royal weddings as seen through items in the Royal Collection
Mementos
Weddings are not only to be celebrated, but also remembered. Wedding favours in the forms of bows or rosettes were traditionally worn by members of the public to celebrate such happy ocassions. This high level of interest led to a burgeoning trade in prints and photographs, to allow the public to feel closer to the couple and the occasion.
Within the family, personal mementos were also shared to mark the special day, and many of these poignant objects are still in the Royal Collection.
