Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore, was killed in the East India Company’s assault on Seringapatam (Srirangapatnam) on 4 May 1799. George IV, when Prince Regent, collected many relics of Tipu Sultan and purchased this print and its pair two weeks before they were officially published.
