This manuscript contains biographies of Tipu Sultan and his father Hyder Ali written in Persian after Tipu Sultan’s death. Jami al-Din Muhammad (c.1792–1842), twelfth son of Tipu Sultan, presented the volume to William IV during his visit to London in 1832. It was soon used to prepare an English translation of the text for the Oriental Translation Fund, published in 1834.
